1. What Is CBHN?

California Black Health Network (CBHN) is a statewide health policy and advocacy organization headquartered in Sacramento with a mission to improve the health status of people of African descent in California and to eliminate health disparities through legislative, administrative and media advocacy.

2. What types of policies does CBHN support?

CBHN builds upon strategies and applications to carry out its policy and advocacy agenda which focuses on the elimination of health disparities including but not limited to the following areas:

  • Prevention and Wellness
  • Health Equity
  • Health Care Access
  • Environmental Health

3. Are there topic experts that can speak on behalf of issues represented by CBHN?

The African American Speaker’s Bureau on Health (AASBH), sponsored by the California Black Health Network (CBHN), is a robust association of over 25 topic experts that exists to provide associations, networks, businesses, churches, and community-based organizations with knowledge and information that is vital to building healthy communities.

These effective presenters are experienced speakers, trainers, or facilitators, who not only will enhance your event, meeting, or conference with interesting and vital information, but also will help to motivate your audience to action.

The range of subjects that are covered include: Weight Management (obesity), Diabetes, AIDS awareness, Hypertension, the Affordable Care Act, patient protection, community wellness, young male mentorship, and environmental health.  In addition, the bureau can provide experts who will testify before agencies and political bodies on various health policy issues.

Yes.  We have a number of grants that allow us to develop collaborations and partnerships with community based organizations.  Our collective approach to healthcare is an essential component to our community work.
