In Session 2, “Your Health and Dis-ease”, participants will learn about the common factors that can impact your health and wellness, including stress, inflammation, genetics, and lifestyle. Participants will also learn about how stress impacts the body, causes “dis-ease”, and leads to chronic diseases in the Black community. In addition, participants will learn how to combat stress and “dis-ease” within the body through health-empowerment and self-health strategies, including making healthy choices, healthy eating habits, movement, stress reduction and lifestyle management.

Session 2 builds upon Session 1 to provide a deeper knowledge and understanding of how to take ownership of your health and healthcare.

Dr. Melissa Clarke is the author of “Excuse Me, Doctor. I’ve got WHAT?!”, a roadmap for how to be a smart healthcare consumer and understanding why now it is more important than ever to take control of your health and healthcare. Dr. Clarke is also a TedX/Keynote Speaker, Health Show Host, Thought Leader, Physician, Educator and Population Health Expert.
