About Nicole Taylor

www.drntaylor.com

About Me I take a whole person approach to therapy, including overall health, wellness and community connection as integral to mental and emotional healing. I specialize in trauma-informed somatic therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and addressing anxiety with a focus on offering culturally responsive therapy for Black people, People of Color, LGBTQ+ folks and people with disabilities. My work centers on social justice, making mental health therapy accessible and decolonizing traditional psychotherapy systems to better meet the needs of unprotected and under-resourced communities. I know that deep healing isn't just about sitting and talking.I offer a space where feeling, moving, questioning, and sometimes, just taking a deep breath in acceptance can activate transformation. I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, and yoga-psychotherapy, activating change in a deeply healing way. I often incorporate mindfulness, spirituality, and attachment theory into my work as it fits the goals and focus of our therapy together. I typically work with people navigating racial trauma, generational wounds, anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions: folx who may feel stuck, disconnected, or weighed down by expectations that don’t align with who they truly are. I use a collaborative and compassionate approach that can help you explore your story, reclaim your sense of self, and quiet the outside noise, so you can take action in living a life that feels more aligned, intentional, and whole. Therapy with me is real, relational, casual and I'm sometimes a little awkward. 🙂 Whether we’re meeting in- person at the office, through telehealth, or outside soaking in the nature, I strive to create a space where you feel seen, safe, supported, and empowered. I look forward to supporting you on your path of healing and self-discovery.

Experience

I’m a Doctor of Marital and Family Therapy and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals and communities as they navigate healing and liberation. My work is rooted in decolonizing psychotherapy, increasing access to care in Black communities, and destigmatizing mental health support, especially for those who’ve historically been pushed to the margins. My approach blends the clinical with the holistic. I’m trained in somatic therapy, EMDR, emotion focused therapy, trauma-informed care, and acceptance-mindfulness based practices. I also hold over 300 hours of yoga training with specialized focus in yin and restorative yoga, and often integrate body-based healing into our work together. Whether we’re addressing anxiety, trauma, identity, or life transitions, I show up with compassion, curiosity, and care. I’ve supported individuals and organizations across many spaces: hospitals, shelters, schools, nonprofits, and community agencies. I offer therapy, clinical supervision, consulting, and trainings for therapists and wellness providers committed to culturally responsive, affirming work. I also bring 20+ years of program design and leadership experience, with a background in non-profit management, organizational development, program design and systems-based work. My consulting helps wellness spaces and mental health programs create sustainable structures that support mental health and social justice for both clients and providers.
